We are currently looking for a Head Herdsperson at one of our dairy units near Daventry, Northamptonshire.

Our Farm & Business

Each farm is run independently with close collaboration, building a powerful culture based on high animal welfare, excellent working conditions and consistent investment in our staff.

Your Role

As a Head Herdsperson, you will work closely with the Farm Manager to deliver our key targets for milk production, animal health and staff development.

Other roles and responsibilities will include:

– Milking to a high and consistent standard. Reporting any observations to the Farm Manager.

– Daily management of the herd, ensuring animal health & welfare is the top priority

– Supporting with dry cow management, calving cows, and colostrum protocols.

– Liaising with vets and nutritionists for the farm.

– Grass Management, grass measuring weekly and input into Agrinet software.

– Keeping basic records and compliance up to date.

– Ensuring the overall farm is kept tidy and safe to operate.

You’ll currently have experience in dairy farming and looking to work for a business that appreciates and rewards your efforts and supports your continued professional development. AI & Foot Trimming qualifications would be preferred but we can send you on the required courses if necessary.

You will ideally be able to demonstrate experience and knowledge of grass-based dairy cow management. Strong people management skills are just as important as your technical experience and skills, alongside your values and behaviors.

The Benefits

We will provide a competitive salary based on your experience, along with a 3-bedroom large mobile home on the farm, with central heating and a garden. We have invested in our properties to a high standard to ensure they offer comfortable and modern facilities.
