Assistant Herdsperson – Clotton, Tarporley, Cheshire

NOTE – You will be working directly for the farm, not through REAL Success.

We are looking for an Assistant Hersdperson to join our dairy team near Tarporley, Cheshire.

Our Farm

We are a mixed family Dairy farm in Cheshire covering 980 acres with mixed grass, wheat & maize, on farm. Our dairy herd consists of 700 pedigree Holstein cows with 600 youngstock, who are milked three times per day on a 40/40 herringbone parlour, with Auto ID, ADF.

Our cows are averaging 12,900 litres with each cow producing 42 litres per day, our herd is housed all year round. We operate on an all-year-round calving system with the dairy enterprise integrated into the arable operations. Our milk is supplied through a Muller Tesco contract and our data & records are completed using Uniform.

Your role

As a Assistant Herdsperson, you will be working alongside the Herd Manager to assist with the day-to-day running of the dairy unit. This can be a varied role to suit an individual, with day-to-day responsibilities for both roles including but not limited to:

– Milking to a high standard as part of a team

– Farm Maintenance & Fencing

– Ensuring animal health & welfare is top priority

– Calf management and feeding

– Keeping records and data up to date

– Basic Tractor driving

– Keeping the farm clean and safe to operate

– Reporting issues or observations to the senior team

Previous experience in dairy farming is preferred, but an eagerness to learn and develop within a forward-thinking and progressive business is just as equally important.
